The meeting on Tuesday evening (29th April 2025) was well attended and officers of WMRE and other agencies provided the attached presentation.
It was noted that:
- Access to the station forecourt will be via a new 4-way mini-roundabout. The centre of the roundabout will be raised.
- Each arm of the roundabout will have an uncontrolled crossing for both pedestrians and cyclists. These crossings will have Belisha beacons and be at road level.
- The existing controlled crossing on St Mary’s Row will be replaced.
- Concerns were raised by members of the audience that the scheme was an accident waiting to happen and that the lack of parking on the forecourt would result in the neighbouring roads becoming a car park.
- Officers confirmed that the relevant technical road safety audits of the highway design were being completed.
- The vehicular access to Moseley Gifts and Gardens will be removed.
- The loading and parking bays outside M&S on Wake Green Road will be removed.
- The highway works will be phased with a planned commencement date of 14th July.
- Oxford Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic but access to businesses and residential properties will be maintained.
- Officers are working with BCC in respect of the timing of the installation of LTN2, no further LTN measures will be implemented in Moseley until the station’s highway disruption is concluded.
- No fixed completion date was provided but estimates of 12-16 weeks were noted.
- It is still the aim to have trains running by the end of Autumn 2025 although no fixed date was provided.
- A Public Liaison Officer has been appointed and will be proactive with regards to communications.
- A planning application has now been made to discharge the planning conditions – ref 2025/02213/PA
No further meeting of the Forum is tabled prior to the proposed opening but it is hoped that pop-up stalls will appear at The Moseley Farmers’ Market.
